Captions pull your eyes to the bottom of the frame. A voice leaves them where they were.

You miss the slide, the speaker's face, the play. ADRODUB turns the original audio down to about a quarter and speaks the translation over the top, the way live interpretation sounds on television. The balance is yours to adjust, live, while it plays.

Setup, about two minutes

Getting your free Google key.

ADRODUB runs on a key you create yourself, which is why it is free and why your audio never passes through us. You do this once.

01

Open AI Studio and click the key icon

Go to aistudio.google.com/apikey and sign in. The key icon sits in the left sidebar, labelled “Get API key”. A personal Gmail is fine.

02

Press “Create API key”

The button is at the top of that page. Google makes the key instantly and shows it once. It starts with AIza and the account stays on the free tier. Copy it.

03

Open ADRODUB and press “Enter API key”

Click the ADRODUB icon in your Chrome toolbar. The button opens the Advanced panel with the cursor already in the right field.

04

Paste it, and it is saved

The key is written to your own browser as you type and never leaves your machine. The button turns into “API key saved”, so you never enter it again.

05

Open any tab with sound and press start

Choose your language and press Start dubbing. In a podcast with two hosts, ADRODUB gives a man and a woman different voices by listening to the pitch of whoever is speaking.

The honest part

The voice runs one to two seconds behind.

That is not a defect, it is how interpretation works. Any interpreter, human or machine, has to hear a phrase before it can say it. You notice it at the start of a sentence and stop noticing it a minute later.

Powered by Gemini Live Translate, Google's model built for continuous real-time speech translation.

Two hosts, two voices

A podcast should not sound like one narrator.

Gemini fixes one voice per session, so ADRODUB runs two sessions at once and listens to the pitch of whoever is speaking to decide which one hears them. A man and a woman get different voices. It costs the same, because the audio is split between the two rather than sent to both.

It separates by pitch, not by gender, so two speakers in a similar register will share a voice. You can also pin a single voice for anything with one speaker.

Questions people ask.

Is it really free?

Yes. No subscription and no credit card. ADRODUB runs on your own free Google Gemini key, which is why there is nothing for us to charge for. Very heavy daily use can reach Google's free tier limits; beyond that, Google sells paid keys.

How far behind is the voice?

Roughly one to two seconds. An interpreter has to hear a phrase before it can say it, so some delay is unavoidable. Human interpreters work the same way.

Which sites does it work on?

Any Chrome tab that makes sound: YouTube, live news, Twitch, Coursera, Udemy, podcast players, recorded calls. It is not tied to one site. It cannot run on Chrome's own pages, such as the Web Store or settings.

Does it really give two podcast hosts two voices?

Yes, when their voices sit in clearly different registers, which is usually the case for a man and a woman. ADRODUB detects pitch rather than gender, so two speakers who sound alike will share one voice. You can also pin a single voice instead.

What happens to my email?

We store the name and email you sign up with, and nothing else. The audio never reaches us, it goes from your browser straight to Google.

Where do I get a Gemini key?

Any Google account can create one free at aistudio.google.com/apikey. Paste it once into ADRODUB; it is stored only on your own device.
